Smart Links for creators: help viewers open your content in the app
Create and test a Smart Link with ANTRAMIC App Opener. Learn how app opening, browser fallback, and private ownership codes work.
A Smart Link is a short public link that helps a visitor reach a supported destination in its app or in a browser. App opening depends on the phone, browser, installed app, and settings. Test the route before sharing it.
The route to your content matters
You put a video in your story. Someone taps it, lands inside a browser, and has to sign in again before leaving a comment. Your video may be fine. The awkward part is the journey to it.
A Smart Link gives you one short address to share and offers a route into a supported app. The visitor can also continue in a browser. It is useful when your audience finds you in one place and watches, listens, or follows in another.
Keep the promise small and clear. A link can help someone reach a destination. It cannot make them watch, follow, or buy.
How to create a Smart Link with App Opener
- Open ANTRAMIC App Opener.
- Paste the public destination URL. Use the original video, track, or profile link.
- Select Create link and copy the public short link.
- Open it on a phone and check that the destination is correct.
- Share the public link in the place where your audience will see it.
The tool lists supported platforms and creates links without a signup. You can add a link to your account to manage it and view visits. If you create it before signing in, keep the private ownership code until you have added it to your account.
Test the journey your audience will take
Start with the context where you plan to share it. Open the link from the social app, messaging app, or website your audience uses. A successful test in your desktop browser tells you little about an embedded mobile browser.
- App installed: check the app route and confirm the right video or profile opens.
- App absent: check that the browser option still reaches useful content.
- Different phone: test an iPhone and an Android device if both matter to your audience.
- Shared context: open the link from the actual story, message, or bio where it will appear.
Some browsers require an extra step in Safari or Chrome. Device settings and app link handling can change the route. Describe the link as a way to reach your content, and let visitors choose how to open it.
Share the link and keep the ownership code private
The public Smart Link is for your audience. The private code is for you: it lets you add the link to your account from another device before it expires. Put the public link in your bio or post. Keep the private code out of screenshots, public documents, and messages to followers.
Adding a link to your account gives you a place to manage it and review visits. If the code has expired or you cannot add a link, use support rather than sending the code in a public comment.
Use clicks to answer a sharing question
Decide what you want to learn before sharing. Perhaps you want to know whether a newsletter sends people to a new video, or whether a bio link still earns attention.
Review visits to the link, then check what happened at the destination using the platform’s own analytics. These are different observations. A click does not confirm a video view, subscriber, or purchase.
Our guide to creator link analytics explains how to read those numbers without stretching what they mean. The Smart Link FAQ covers app opening and ownership questions.
